Registration opens July 1 for this year’s international conference for the Association of Personal Historians: Join us to Kick It Up! in Fort Worth, Texas, October 23-27. Advance programs are in the mail now.
For the 21st year, personal historians from around the world will gather to learn more about how to “kick up” their business with workshops and panel discussions, hear from exciting keynote speakers, and enjoy networking—lots of networking!
Kick It Up! starts with two pre-conference seminars: “Starting and Succeeding with Your Personal History Business,” taught by Stephanie Kadal Taras; and “From Transcript to Terrific—Bringing Experiences to Life,” taught by Patricia Charpentier. Space is limited in the seminars, so don’t delay and risk missing out.
Conference keynote speakers include genealogist John Philip Colletta, Civil Rights oral historian Max Krochmal, and film music composer John Centrone.
The conference gives attendees a choice of twenty-five outstanding workshops presented in five sessions. There’s something for everyone, no matter your genre or level of experience.
And there’s more: dinners, panel discussions, an entertaining and informative public event, the Conference Store, a vendor expo, and did I mention networking? Attendees always talk about the valuable information they acquired just from chats with other members in the hallways or at the dinner table.
So mark your calendar now for October 23-27. If you’re already a member of APH, watch for the advance program to arrive in the mail. If you’re not already a member, join APH now and take advantage of member rates for registration. Conference Program Chair Martha Humphries and her team are ready to welcome you to Fort Worth, Texas, to Kick It Up!
I can’t wait! I started saving for it right after I got home from Sacremento last year. I REALLY want encourage those of you that have never come to a conference to try and make Ft. Worth this year. You won’t regret it. Just being around like-minded people is awesome enough but add to that the speakers are great, making new friends and colleagues is so much fun! You’ll learn so much. Come with an open mind, the desire to learn more about the fulfilling work we do, and lots of questions. This will be my third one and like I started off saying, I CAN’T WAIT! Look out Ft. Worth, here we come! 😃
I was just now poring over the conference program that arrived in my mailbox, and I am so impressed with all the workshops this year. Great topics! Excellent presenters! It looks like another smash hit for APH and a big help to every personal historian. Can’t wait to see you all there!
